Timber Framed Replacement Dwelling

This replacement dwelling in Hertfordshire by Hibbs & Walsh Architects is the result of a hard-fought battle with the Local Authority planning department.

We had to convince the Local Authority that the original building was not suitable for retention, and that both the location and the method of construction were sustainable.

The house was constructed using an engineered timber building system which delivers an exceptionally high level of thermal performance and air tightness.

The external walls were supplied in closed panel units in lengths of up to 4.8m, manufactured in a quality controlled environment and then clad externally in through-coloured cement fibre boards. The panels are available in thicknesses of 207mm to 258mm and can be insulated with a variety of materials. They are easily adaptable to almost any building type.
