New Energy-Efficient House in Suffolk

This traditional-looking house in Suffolk focuses on efficiency and sustainability. It was quick to build and is energy-efficient.

It was constructed with a timber frame to speed up the construction and avoid potential time delays from bad weather. Internal work was started sooner than usual, without the need to wait for the brick layers to be completed externally.

The timber frame panels were manufactured off-site and the structure was erected and water-tight within two weeks from delivery to the site.

The walls were insulated with recycled paper fibre, a highly efficient way to keep the embodied energy levels of the new house as low as possible. Triple glazed windows were also installed to keep the amount of potential heat loss down to a minimum and reduce the potential heating costs.
