Hibbs and Walsh Associates
Mike Hibbs and Sebastian Walsh are the two partners in Hibbs and Walsh Associates, an Architectural practice based in Saffron Walden in Essex. The practice undertakes work in Essex, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, and will consider commissions from further afield, having carried out works in London, Luxembourg and the Charente area of France.
As well as commissions for new houses for individual clients, they provide the architectural services required in the refurbishment and extension of all types of residential buildings, and specialise in substantial country properties, often listed buildings of considerable age and value. They handle planning applications on behalf of householders wishing to extend or alter their properties, from loft conversions to swimming pools, and frequently find the builders to carry out the works, ensuring a good standard of work. Recently their workload has included alterations and extensions to several churches in the town, and commissions for restaurants and a furniture factory.
In partnership since 1998, they have between them a total of nearly 60 years experience of the building process. They share their premises with well known local Surveyors, Michael Snow and Brien Walker of Snow Walker Associates. With a staff of four, including Janet Hayes, ARB, and Lisa Taylor, they
regularly administer contracts from a few thousand pounds to over £1,000,000 in value, often requiring the use of specialised conservation techniques. The practice uses the Caddie system of computer aided design, as well as more traditional techniques.
